Isle Of Man Property

The south-west coast of the Isle of Man has historically been seen as an isolated spot - there are few areas of what might loosely be described as 'urbanisation', the small hamlet of Dalby and the slightly larger village of Glen Maye. Modern transport - particularly the car - doesn't mean the area remains remote. There are fairly frequent bus services but if you can jump into a car then the historic castle town & fishing village of Peel is only a handful of miles away.
With it's new marina, it's quite an up and coming town (described by some as a city as it's the home of the Cathedral Church of Saint German ). New shops are beginning to appear, and it's cafes and restaurants top some of the islands' lists of favourite eating out spots. It has characterful pubs, an attractive beach & promenade, & popular ice cream parlours. Many locals visit for 'a day out'.

There are of course beaches a little closer to home. Dalby has a series of attractive beaches running south from Niarbyl towards Fleshwick. Glen Maye has it's very own beach at the end of a short walk down though the glen itself.

In the temperate winter months - when the weather gods do tend to gather for tumble and play - you can jet off to warmer climes from Ronaldsway Isle of Man Airport, less than ten miles away.

Culturally, there's plenty available in the area - Peel hosts the Leece Museum, the House of Mannanan, and the Manx Transport Heritage Museum. The Centenary Centre holds a regular series of concerts, together with the occasional play. Peel Castle in the summertime joins the Centenary Centre as a venue for visiting theatrical productions, and the 'Shakespeare in the Castle' series of performances are well known.

To the south, Port Erin is the home of The Erin Arts Centre - venue for the annual 'Mananan International Festival of Music & the Arts'. This is a prestigious cultural event and one of the finest festivals in the British Isles.

Half an hour to the east, the islands' capital Douglas has two cinemas, the historic Gaiety Theatre, The Manx Museum, and the Villa Marina conference centre.

There's a lively contemporary music scene with regular performances in pubs and concert halls around the  island both week nights and weekends.

All major towns have Shoprite and Co-op supermarkets. Douglas also houses Marks & Spencer and Tesco superstores. St. Johns hosts the Tynwald Mills Shopping Centre. Additionally, there are five or six major cities in the UK and Ireland within a flying time of around half an hour or so from Ronaldsway and there are regular daily flights to most of these.

Living in the wests' rural idyll, you'll naturally enjoy the best of things that country living can offer. For more determined games players there are plenty of sporting facilities of most types throughout the island, including nine golf courses at the most recent count. Peel, Castletown, Ramsey and Douglas have public swimming pools as well as tennis facilities.

Douglas contains a casino at the Palace Hotel complex, and there is talk of another casino to be opened shortly.
